McDonald’s is introducing a popular international McFlurry in the US.

The moment has arrived, America! McDonald’s beloved international dessert, the Kit Kat McFlurry, is rolling out across the country starting July 10. This U.S. version enhances the classic treat by incorporating the flavors of a traditional ice cream parlor favorite. Named the Kit Kat Banana Split McFlurry, this new treat blends the iconic soft serve with real banana, crunchy strawberry-flavored bits, and Kit Kat pieces. Plus, it’s thick enough to enjoy by the spoonful.

Fans of McDonald’s from Australia might recognize these flavors, as both the Kit Kat McFlurry and the Banana Caramel Pie McFlurry have made multiple appearances in Australian McDonald’s over the last four years. Locations in Japan and Germany have also introduced their own Kit Kat-inspired McFlurries. Furthermore, the U.K. features not only a classic Kit Kat McFlurry but also a Ruby Chocolate Kit Kat McFlurry that showcases pink ruby chocolate. These offerings have sparked envy and excitement among U.S. fans who have been eager to try these delectable treats.

Despite jokes circulating on social media about the notoriously “broken” status of McDonald’s soft serve machines, many users are expressing their excitement for the new McFlurry. An enthusiastic fan on Instagram exclaimed, “Take allll my money,” while another highlighted their surprise and joy at the domestic Kit Kat release, commenting, “WHAT?! US?? It’s a miracle.”

How does the new McFlurry taste?

While McDonald’s new delicacy merges two ice cream favorites — a crunchy McFlurry with candy pieces and a banana split — some users on social media have expressed reservations about the banana flavor. However, early testers report that the banana flavor is quite subtle. In fact, Australian fans have praised the banana flavor in that country’s version of the McFlurry. Additionally, the treat also incorporates Kit Kat’s classic milk chocolate-covered wafers, adding cocoa notes and the flaky texture of the candy bar to each bite.

The Kit Kat Banana Split McFlurry does not include a syrup mix-in, which has disappointed some tasters who were hoping for a strawberry syrup or hot fudge mix-in, similar to Japan’s strawberry Kit Kat McFlurry released in 2022. Yet, a generous portion of fruit crumble mixed in ensures that every bite is crispy and sweet. Customers who enjoyed last year’s Strawberry Shortcake McFlurry may find similarities between the two, as they both contain aromatic strawberry clusters.

Some fans in the U.S. are feeling nostalgic and making connections between this dessert and McDonald’s banana milkshake, which has not been available for years. The new release follows closely on the heels of the Grandma McFlurry, which debuted in May 2024 and celebrated a butterscotch theme with a rich syrup and textured crumbles, possibly hinting at the company’s direction toward retro food items making a comeback. The Kit Kat Banana Split McFlurry is only available while supplies last, so you might want to get one soon.
